Tween Girl’s Room Planning

Bedroom | November 11, 2014

A few months ago we started a fun tween girl’s room. The room was really large and had a lot of potential!
On one wall she had a large king bed. The client wanted new window treatments, new nightstands and new bedding.
On the other wall they were wanting a fun way to display art. Our client is a very creative artist and she wanted to display her pieces in her room!
Then on the other wall they wanted a desk and some shelving.
Erin had the idea to move the bed from the window wall to the far long wall. We felt like it would be a good way to fill up that wall and then we could make the window area more of a seating spot. We sent this floor plan.
And this was the design plan we came up with!

When we asked our client to pick a favorite fabric she immediately was drawn to these two:
The floral fabric is available through us. Contact us for pricing – [email protected]
We wouldn’t normally use two multi colored fabrics like this in a space. But since the room was big we thought it could handle a lot of pattern and color. The colors also worked well together.
We decided to move the art display area to in between the two windows. We bought three of these. We wanted some navy chairs for the seating are. These are a few of the ones we chose:
We ended up going with the Sadie Arm chair. The price was pretty good and the shape was really cute!
For the desk area we had plenty of room so we decided to do two shelves on either side of the desk. These were a few of the shelves we liked:
These were options for the desk:
We went with the Josephine but brought the gold in with this chair:
At the end of the bed we also wanted to have a furry bench or stools. We contemplated these:
But our client found this great bench:
And we decided to have it reupholstered in ikea rugs
After going through the options I made up a new design board so we could see the direction the room was headed.
I’ll be sharing the room reveal tomorrow!
