More times than not we have wood floors in some area in all of our projects. We love the warmth of the wood tones and it always makes the space feel more open and larger. When designing the Morgan Farmhouse we knew that the entire main floor was going to be wood. We wanted something lighter but with warm tones. We had recently done a project with European oak hardwood floors and fell in love with them, so we wanted to go in that direction. We didn’t have the budget for solid hardwood and the Morgans wanted something with a little less up keep, so we decided to go with engineered hardwood.
Engineered hardwoods have a base of veneer with a thin piece of solid hardwood on top. This gives the look of solid hardwood but at a lower cost. Engineered floors also aren’t as susceptible to expanding and contracting when exposed to moisture. You can also install engineered floors on top of concrete.
The Garrison Collection has amazing options for the European oak engineered hardwoods that we were looking for. We wanted lighter wood floors but with texture and warm tones. These were our favorites that we felt would fit the space.
1. Du- Bois Chrishell / 2. Villa- Gialla Brescia / 3. Newport Pebble Beach / 4. Nouvelle Ashen / 5. Du-Bois Chantal
We ended up going with option #3, the European oak pebble beach. It has great texture and color, perfect for our design and functionality of the home. The installation was easy and fast. It took 2 full days for them to install the entire main floor, which is about 1700 sq ft. We are very happy with the end product! Stay tuned for more of the finished product shots!
