Kaysville New Build – Living Room and Office Reveal

Kaysville New Build | June 10, 2019

Adjacent to the Kaysville Kitchen is the Living Room. It’s one of our favorite spaces in the house. The room is so calming and classic.  We love the mix of texture and tone that we achieved.

We knew the fireplace would need to be a major focal point in the room. We chose to do floor to ceiling honed limestone with lots of neutral tones. Although we don’t typically love a t.v. above a fireplace we feel like this space can pull it off because of the scale of the room. The fireplace doesn’t feel overpowered by the t.v.

We fell in love with this coffee table and thought the style was perfect for this modern living room, but unfortunately the scale was too small. We got creative and decided to do two tables pushed together.

For the cabinetry we did quarter sawn oak in a stain color to match the stain used in the kitchen.  This whole space is about texture. The subtle trim detail on the cabinet fronts gives the built ins a little texture in a bold way without being invasive to the eye.

For the bookshelf styling we stuck to whites, blacks and brass tones with bits of greenery mixed in.  We also added some personalized art to the shelves.

When you are doing an open concept floor plan it’s so important to consider the room from all angles. The blue in the kitchen is so bold so we chose to go more muted in our modern farmhouse living room. We did add a few pops of color on the cream sofa to tie in the saturated color from the kitchen.

Adjacent to the Living Room is the home office.  It’s such a handsome space with dark blue cabinetry, a wood lathe fireplace and lots of natural light pouring through.

That cabinet to the left of the fireplace is actually a hidden door into our client’s closet! This is such a functional idea for someone who needs to slip into the office early in the morning.

When considering office decor it’s important to find spaces to showcase personal items.  An office is the perfect home for special mementos, pictures, books etc.  We did floor to ceiling bookshelves for all of our client’s treasured items.
